  • Payment information processed via Stripe (we do not store card details — see Section 7)

  • IP address and browser type
  • Pages visited and time spent on the site
  • Referring website or search terms used to find us
  • Device type and operating system

This technical data is collected via standard website analytics tools (see Section 8 on Cookies) and is used in aggregate, anonymised form to improve the performance of our website. It is not used to identify individual visitors.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Acts 1988–2018, we are required to have a valid legal basis for each way in which we process your personal data. We rely on the following:

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

5. How Long We Retain Your Data

We retain personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Our general retention periods are as follows:

  • Client records (including payment records): 7 years, in line with Irish Revenue requirements for financial records.
  • Enquiry and correspondence data (where no booking followed): 12 months from the date of last contact.
  • Newsletter subscriber data: Retained while you remain subscribed. Removed promptly upon unsubscription.
  • Website analytics data: In accordance with the retention settings of the analytics tool in use (see Section 8).

When data is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymised.

6. Who We Share Your Data With

We take your privacy seriously and do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share data with trusted third-party service providers only where necessary to deliver our services. These include:

  • Stripe, Inc. — to process payments securely. Stripe operates as an independent data controller in respect of payment data. Please refer to Stripe’s own Privacy Policy at stripe.com/ie/privacy for full details.
  • Email and communication providers — for the delivery of booking confirmations and correspondence.
  • Newsletter platform — if you subscribe to our newsletter, your name and email address will be processed by our email marketing provider [to be confirmed].
  • Website hosting and analytics providers — for the operation and performance monitoring of eireetiquette.ie.

All third parties we work with are required to handle your data in compliance with GDPR and applicable data protection law. We do not share data with any third party for their own marketing purposes.

We may also disclose your data where required to do so by law, court order, or competent regulatory authority.

7. Payments and Stripe

All online payments are processed securely through Stripe, a PCI DSS-compliant payment processor. When you make a payment via our website, you will be directed to Stripe’s secure payment interface.

We do not store, see, or have access to your full card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment credentials. Stripe retains payment data in accordance with its own privacy policy and applicable financial regulations. For queries relating to payment data, please refer to stripe.com/ie/privacy.

Our website uses cookies to support its operation and to understand how visitors use the site. A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website.
